The color sterograph features a boat filled with sailors going on shore leave. The two dozen or so men are leaning toward the camera and are relaxed and smiling.

One of the close shaves of a sailor's life

The stereoscope shows an image of five sailors sitting and watching a fellow sailor receive a shave with a straight razor. They are in various states of undress with socks and pants thrown over a metal rail. The sailor who is shaving his peer has many tattoos.
